| A Message from God:
(11 August 2001) |
Mark 10:19 "What therefore God hath joined together let no man put asunder." [Editor: Does it refer to sperm and egg?] Matthew 19:6 "So they are no longer two, but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate." Galatians 6:7-8 "Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. |
| A Filipino saying:
(28 August 2001) |
| "When the
little finger hurts, the whole body suffers." |
| A Hasidic saying:
(7 December 2003) |
| "In everyone there is
something precious, found in no one else; so honour each man/woman for what is
hidden within him/her - for what s/he alone has, and none of his/her fellows." |
| A Hindu Proverb:
(7 December 2003) |
| "There is nothing
noble about being superior to some other man/woman. The true nobility lies in
being superior to your previous self." |

| Heraclitus
(540 BC - 480 BC): He claimed that the world exists as a coherent
system in which a change in one direction is ultimately balanced by a
corresponding change in another. The timeframe for the balancing mechanisms
varies depending on various lifecycles. Between all things there are hidden
inter-connections, in various forms, from simple equilibrium systems to
complex ones. "Not after listening to me, but after listening to the account,
one does wisely in agreeing that all things are one."

|
| Heraclitus: "Man's
character is his fate." (Does this refer to the Law of Karma
which refers to things unseen such as your desires and wishes contrary to the Law
of Physics which refers to things that are seen as in Law of Gravity? There are
also man-made laws including Common Law backed up by Moral Laws but rely on the
establishment of the facts for each case.) Pearl S Buck: "The test of a civilisation is in the way that it responds and cares for its most helpless members." (On a globalised view?) Matthew 5:5 "Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth." (A pendulum swing/see-saw effect?) |

|
| Heraclitus:
"Any point in the universe is its centre." (Boundless?) Empedocles: "The nature of God is a circle of which the centre is everywhere and the circumference is nowhere." (No beginning and no ending?) Isaiah 45:22 "Turn to Me (The Christ within?) and be saved, all the ends of the Earth; for I am God, and there's no other." Mt 26:11 "For you always have the poor with you; but you do not always have Me." (God/Love/Compassion?) Pr 22:2 "The rich and the poor have a common bond, The LORD (The I am?) is the maker of them all." ("There's a reason for everything"?) John 8:58 "Jesus said to them, 'truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was born, I am.'" John 14:6 "Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.'" John 14:10 "Do you believe that I am in the Father, and the Father is in Me? The words that I say to you I do not speak on My own initiative, but the Father abiding in Me does His works." Romans 12:19 "Never take your own revenge, beloved, but leave room for the wrath {of God} for it is written, 'Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,' says the Lord." Nostradamus (1503-1566): "Things that happen at present are the cumulative result of all our actions and thoughts in the past and are in preparation for what will happen in the future. Things that will happen in the future would be the cumulative result of what we choose to think and do at present and combined with what we chose to think and do previously in the distant past." |

From 'Radio National' station, 'Asia Pacific' program, 14 September
2001, 8:00PM-8:30PM:
Mr Peter Mares was talking to the economic correspondent from Singapore. The man from Singapore was saying something about the economy in Asia and then I heard him say, '...the poor countries in Asia like Vietnam, Philippines and Bangladesh.' I thought, "Ouch!" I grew up in the Philippines and I cannot accept that anyone would drag the name Philippines through the mud. If he had just used the phrase 'poor countries of Asia', that's alright; but do not single out any particular country as this is of no help to them. No country is totally poor and it just gives a distorted picture for people listening and does nothing to help their economy. |

A proverb: "Our own life is the instrument with which we experiment
with truth." (Does it mean that there are varying degrees of risk in
trusting others? That we can't be an heir/ess to $billions worth of
fortune all at the same time?) |
|
A Filipino Saying: "Ask for more and you
could lose all." (The nature of the beast? Cartels? Asking for
too much profits in the short term by replacing people with
machines without appropriate checks and balances to prevent
white-collar crimes by those in control thus letting wealth
flow into the hands of fewer and fewer people? This is contrary
to the Utopian ideal of spreading wealth as far wide as possible
to avoid unforeseen negative repercussions.) [Aesop's fables: For the greedy, to want more is to lose all.] |

Luke 6:29 "Whoever hits you on the cheek, offer him the other
also; and whoever takes away your coat, do not withhold your shirt
from him either." [A metaphor?] Galatians 5:14 "All that the Law says can be summed up in the command to love others as much as you love yourself." [Why?] |
